By adding someone as an Affiliate member – they are more than just another contact in the system. The Affiliate Membership enables the additional individual/employee of the main contact to reap the full rewards of HBAGA membership at a fraction of the cost, as they will be an official member of record with the local, state and national associations. Dues payments to the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
However, dues payments may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expense, subject to exclusion for lobbying activity. Because a portion of your dues is used for lobbying by NAHB, TAB and the HBAGA, 30% of your total dues is not deductible for income tax purposes.
I, the undersigned, hereby apply for membership in the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin (HBA). In making this application, I am acquainted with the purposes and agree to abide by the Bylaws (and all amendments thereof), and the rules and policies of the HBA, the Texas Association of Builders and the National Association of Home Builders. In the event of termination of membership in the HBA, I agree to immediately discontinue advertising my membership and use of the HBA insignia/logo in any form. The application for membership may be denied for indebtedness to the HBA or demonstrated unethical conduct detrimental to the industry of the HBA and its purposes.
